We Have Returned From TEKNOFEST 2020 With Success!
We Have Returned From TEKNOFEST 2020 With Success!
This year we participated in TEKNOFEST finals, in which we earned success last year, with 4 different technology teams.
Last year, two separate technology teams went to the finals and one of our teams came in 3rd in the basic category of unmanned underwater systems. This year we maintained our achievement by taking place in TEKNOFEST 2020 finals, organized in Gaziantep, with 4 different teams, 3 of which are at the high school level and 1 at the middle school level.
In Social Innovation category of TEKNOFEST 2020 Technology for Humanity Competition, OKKA technology team comprised of our NUN Middle School students stood for our school. In high school category, Hydrotech ROV and Hydrotech AUV teams in unmanned underwater systems competition and We Fly team in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle category represented us.
In Social Innovation category of TEKNOFEST 2020 Technology for Humanity Competition, OKKA technology team consisting of middle school students aims to enable children having full or partial visual impairment to learn Braille easily and entertainingly with the project they designed. As part of the project, students assembled the Braille alphabet they had 3D modelled and printed and coded a game that can teach students letters and words gradually. The project enabling the use of technology and gamification together was qualified for the finals as 2nd team among 887 teams. Being exhibited at the Gaziantep Middle East fair center on September 24-27, the project ranked as 4th.
Our Hydrotech ROV team, competing in the basic (inter-high school) category in the unmanned underwater systems competition, finished the competition as the 7th among the 19 teams that made it to the finals among 327 teams applying in the basic category. The team finished the competition as 16th which was also the only high school team among the 24 teams that made it to the finals among 127 teams in the advanced category. Our UAV team competing in the advanced (inter-collegiate and inter-high school) category became 16th and it was the only high-school team among 24 teams reached to the finals among 127 teams.
In the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle category, We Fly team represented NUN Schools in TEKNOFEST 1st Inter High School UAV competition finals among 125 teams.
Eftal İnan, NUN Technology Team Consultant/Technology-Design Teacher, stated that "NUN Schools take part in a new field each year. As the number of our students and teams increases, we try to improve ourselves in different fields and create projects. Especially in the field of artificial intelligence, we will have much more powerful projects over time. This year was our first experience in UAV and we believe that we will put forward much better projects in the coming years. Unlike last year, we included our middle school students to the competition and our project reached to the finals and ranked as 4th. We hope that we will make these achievements permanent by adding more it every year."
Founder Representative of NUN Schools Fatih Nida Üye said that "Since the first day we established as NUN Schools, we strive to enhance our students' interest and curiosity in technology, science and innovation. At the present situation, it makes us very proud that our students participate in a great organization such as TEKNOFEST and increase both the number of projects and achievements each year by competing in finals. Such competitions and degrees positively affect our students' excitement, self-confidence and view of life. We congratulate all our students participating in the competition and support their journey of success in their each step. We extend our thanks to our distinguished teachers Serpil Karabulut, Eftal İnan and Yunus Kaş who worked hard through entire process as project consultants.
