Building Boundaries: A Secure Bond - Parent Workshop
Adolescent ideas and thoughts may clash with those of their parents, as they experience the urge to achieve individuation, autonomy, and identity under the influence of growth. They may exhibit risky and pleasure-oriented behaviors, have difficulty restraining themselves, and desire to make decisions independently or test their coping power with events. In other words, they can test their limits while maintaining their sense of individuality and experimenting with behaviors that may not be approved by adults. While adolescents desire and experience to be free, to be able to act independently, and to act alone, on the one hand, they need boundaries to be set by adults. These boundaries encourage young people to feel physically and emotionally safe, allowing them to delay gratification, build social connections, and develop into responsible individuals.
NÛN PCG Unit held a workshop with the participation of the parents: "Building Boundaries: A Secure Bond." The workshop discussed boundaries, how authority and boundaries are formed in children, the father's role in child spirituality, why parents have difficulty setting boundaries, and how to set healthy boundaries.
Such parent workshops support collaboration with parents and our school and create an environment where parents can share their experiences and learn effective ways to communicate with their children to respond to their emotional needs.
