Our Student Drew Attention to Technology Addiction with Her Project
Our Student Drew Attention to Technology Addiction with Her Project
Our student Zeynep Eylül Yağcıoğlu implemented the “A Day Without Technology” project, which she conducted in order to draw attention to technology addiction and create awareness with the support of YEŞİLAY, BAYKAR Makina and Üsküdar Children’s University.

A group of 80 students including elementary school students from private and public schools participated in the “A Day Without Technology” event in collaboration with Yeşilay, Baykar Makina and Üsküdar Children’s University.
In cooperation with Üsküdar Children’s University, “A Day Without Technology” event was held with a group of 80 students from different primary and public schools of the university, consisting of outstanding potential students at elementary school level. The event within the scope of the project, started with the participants putting their phones in a box and the participants enjoyed the exhibition area where they could take souvenir photos.
At the beginning of the event, Marmara University Young YESILAY members İlknur Zeynep MURAT and Asli Fatma ATİLAY presented “CPC Technology Addiction” training by Yeşilay Academy, which conducts researches and trainings on fighting against addiction in Turkey. The participants were informed about the technology addiction, which is also the starting point of the project, with the education reinforced with an interactive game, and found answers to the questions “Are we addicted to technology? How can we use the technology correctly?”

In the second stage, two concurrent competitions were held in order to answer the question “how we used to have fun without technology?” and “how can we have fun without technology?” The participants found clues hidden in Üsküdar Children’s University building and garden and solved them in order. They both had fun and worked in collaboration with their teammates; while they played the orienteering game consisting of words and with the syllables of the word “Technology” (for example: Team)they should get the hidden sentence. The winners of the competitions received surprise gifts.
During the program, they discussed issues such as: “What is the place of technology addiction and human psychology, how addiction occurs, how can we get rid of addiction and what kind of activities are being carried out in this field today?”
At the end of the event, BAYKAR Machine representative Mehmet Ali NART, who worked as an electrical and electronic engineer in the organization told “The Founding Story of BAYKAR, Production Stages of SİHA and UAVs, Integration of Different Systems in it, Importance of National Production (Why Local Software, Local Chip is Produced from the Ground) and TEKNOFEST”. The event, which lasted four and a half hours after this inspiring presentation, ended with the distribution of YEŞİLAY, BAYKAR Makina and Üsküdar Children’s University approved certificates.
