Our Students Visited Prince Islands
Our Students Visited Prince Islands
Together with our 8th grade students, we actualized the first of our travel program entitled “Beyân-i Menâzil-i Sefer-i NÛN” to the Princes Islands.
Our students started their journey with the guidance of their teachers in Kadıköy. Our students traveled by ferry, and met the historical, architectural features and importance of Haydarpaşa Railway Station in our social life. Then they learned about the 200-meter monument of II. Abdulhamid on a breakwater built in front of the historical station.
Our teachers enriched the journey by mentioning the historical silhouette of Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia Mosque and Sultanahmet Mosque and the importance of their image. Kınalıada was the first stop of our students after they enjoyed their ferry journey with tea and simit. Our students visited Burgazada, Heybeliada and Büyükada respectively, set foot on the island after a beautiful journey. They were informed about where the names of the islands came from, the historical structures on the islands and how they were used in history. They also had additional information on other islands in the Sea of Marmara, Yassiada and İmralı.
Our students took a long island tour after breakfast in Büyükada. They visited the historical streets, mansions and pavilions of the island. At the end of the journey they arrived at the Island Museum. Our students visited the museum after watching the video about the formation and geological history of the islands. They learnt so much about literati, philosophers and politicians who lived in the islands.
After the visit to the museum, the students started their journey back home. They acquainted with history, geography and literature in our activity where they had the opportunity to see the city they live closely. They had the opportunity to observe a lot of information on-site from the geographical forms they studied in the lectures to the historical subjects, famous literati and city culture.
