The Importance of Domestic Production Discussed at NUN Primary School

As part of the NUN Meetings, we hosted Haluk Karataş, who worked as an engineer at Arçelik Company, at our primary school.
Making a presentation on “Why do we need to produce local technology and products?” Karataş started his speech by comparing the production of other companies with Turkey. Emphasizing that we will be behind other countries if we do not produce technology, he reminded that we should focus on domestic production to prevent this. Conveying the historical adventure of production technology to our students, Karataş added that the robots, who no longer need people, have a say in production.
Karataş pointed out that we need new ideas for the domestic technology and gave information about the pre-production process. Karataş stated that it is necessary to take into consideration the needs of consumers before production and underlined that it is very important to produce ideas, so we need to get rid of our prejudices by saying “In order to ensure a quality production we need to know their real problems, correct answers only come out of correct questions”.
Giving examples about the production stages of the products used in our students' homes, Karataş screened various photographs and videos to inform our students. He advised our students to never give up their dreams and shared the fact that there was a dream behind the world famous big brands. After the activity enriched with the questions, our students understood the importance of domestic production.
