Miniaturk Trip
NÛN Schools Grade 6 students made a pleasant and educational field trip to Miniaturk to reinforce the topics of “Proportion” and “Geometry and Measurement” in the second and third units of the mathematics course. During this trip, students had the opportunity to study miniature models reduced by 1/25 of the important architectural works selected from the wide Ottoman geography and lands of Türkiye.
The miniature works in Miniatürk allowed students to associate their geometry and measurement skills with real-world applications. Students who learned the concept of ratio and proportion through concrete examples understood mathematical concepts in depth by comparing miniature models with real dimensions.
The trip also offered an opportunity to get to know and understand the cultural heritage of our region more closely. By examining selected works from the Ottoman geography, the students discovered the cultural and historical characteristics of the regions where these architectural structures are located. Whit this trip, students learned the significant historical architecture and cultural importance of them, while improving their intercultural understanding.
