Library Week and World Book Day Costume Day
Various activities were held in our primary school for National Library Week and World Book Day. The opening remarks were made by Merve Gülcemal, telling a story of a well-known character in Turkish folklore, Keloghlan. Then the students staged Shel Silverstein’s "The Giving Tree / Cömert Ağaç" in English, giving the audience joyful moments. The program continued with the students’ play which amazed the audience. The performance was an adaptation of the performance of the story by beloved Turkish literature writer Cahit Zarifoğlu’s "Motorlu Kuş" (The Bird with an Engine) and amazed the audience with their live performances. Lastly, our primary school principal came on stage in Nasreddin Hodja costume and made an interactive presentation.
This special day was not only a day where books were celebrated, but also an experience where our students developed their originality, stage skills and language skills. Thanks to the activities, our students experienced the excitement of stepping into the rich world of literature and were encouraged to increase their reading habit.
