World Arabic Language Day Activities
On December 18, various activities celebrating Arabic language and culture were held for World Arabic Language Day. Students explored the Arabic culture and language in diverse ways.
A stage program, prepared by students from all grade levels, was the highlight of the day. The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by students’ performances of Arabic songs and poetry readings. Our girls’ high school preparatory class performed a play about Nasreddin Hodja in Arabic. Eighth-grade students participated in an Arabic trivia game and then performed a dabke dance, a traditional Palestinian folk dance.
Throughout the day, engaging multisensory activities were offered. During recess, students listened to Arabic music while playing games. The dining hall featured a special menu of popular Arabic dishes. Traditional Arabic baked goods were served as an afternoon snack.
The “NÛN Arabic Interviews II” program, a special Arabic Language Day activity, was also completed. Interviews with students, teachers, and staff highlighted the importance of and interest in Arabic.
These activities provided students with an opportunity to experience the richness of Arabic language and culture firsthand, reinforcing the idea that language learning extends beyond grammar to encompass cultural understanding. Through these events, our students were able to develop their Arabic skills and enhance their intercultural awareness.
