Assessment and Evaluation
The purpose of the assessment and evaluation carried out at our school is to support the multifaceted development of our students in accordance with the MYP and to improve their learning process. The assessment and evaluation program helps us to determine what our students know, what they understand, and what they can do at different stages of learning. At the same time, it also guides us in drawing new goals for our teachers and students through reflective thinking. Students, teachers, and parents are informed with a report prepared according to the results records. Regular evaluation of the program with the participation of teachers and school administration contributes to the improvement of our program when necessary.
Assessment and Evaluation Program
The stages applied for our measurement and evaluation studies are as follows.
Readiness Tests
Readiness tests are conducted to determine whether our students have the knowledge and skills that require prerequisites for the content they will encounter when starting a new education and training period. In addition to determining the level of our students in academic courses, their status is also observed in practical courses. With these exams, the career journey of the student is guided after determining which areas our students show competence in and which areas should be supported. In addition to observing students' success in learning, evaluating their prior knowledge and experiences enables our teachers to plan and organize their teaching styles accordingly.
Formative assessments
The focus of all assessment and evaluation studies at NÛN Middle School is formative assessments. The formative assessment studies determine how close our students are to achieving the educational goals of MYP and the national curriculum. Formative assessments provide significant insights about our students. In addition, it provides feedforward by providing solutions to problems that our students may encounter in the future. These studies make an immediate intervention possible since they determine students' understanding of course content, units, and learning outcomes, enabling targeted action plans. If our student has not been able to achieve the requirements of relevant unit/learning outcomes, it is supported by in-class differentiation, differentiated tasks, and office hours tutoring. In NÛN Middle School, process evaluation is carried out in every lesson and at every moment. Our MYP teachers assess our students' progress and adjust their teaching methods accordingly.
Summative assessments
Summative assessment studies are carried out at the end of each semester for our students studying at NÛN Middle School to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have learned. The summative assessments profile the success status of our students is determined, detailed, and clear feedback is provided to our students about their achievements. Our students' development is monitored by comparing their current data to the readiness exams taken at the beginning of the year.
