Digital Citizenship

A digital citizen is a person who knows the ethical consequences of using information and communication sources and their online behavior; they can make moral online decisions, prevent technology addiction, and encourages the correct behavior when communicating and collaborating in the digital world.

A digital citizen can actively, positively and responsibly participate in both national and global online and offline communities through a wide range of competencies. Because digital technologies are inherently disruptive and constantly evolving, competence building is a lifelong process that must begin from the earliest childhood at home and last throughout the school in formal and non-formal education settings.

Our students and employees receive comprehensive training on vital issues such as cyber security, digital identity and digital footprints since security is essential in the digital world. In addition, we have an Online Security Policy that we have prepared in order to increase the awareness of our students and employees about online security, and we apply filters on internet access to protect our students from harmful content. Our students are allowed to access the filtered Internet during specific hours.

Students who do not have a computer are lent a laptop computer protected by a secure and filtering application by our Information Technologies Unit.

Likewise, all our teachers are given laptops protected by a secure and filtering application.

As part of our Child Protection and Safeguarding policy, the websites accessed by all our students and employees are monitored and protected through the school network.
